Welcome to our blog! We are 22 women, women just like you, who are facing infertility (or sub-fertility, as some like to call it). The reasons we’re facing it are many and we’re all different, but we all have two things in common – we are all fighting to start our families and we all came together because we didn’t want to fight this battle alone. We are all at different stages – whether it’s IVF, IUI, using donor eggs and sperm, endocrinological issues, unexplained or still shagging and hoping. If you’re at a particular stage, chances are, one of us has been, or is, right where you are.
We are from all over the UK, come from all walks of life and met online. While there are a lot of resources like the amazing Fertility Network available, they all miss the magic ingredients our group has – community, friendship and real life accounts of the physical and mental effects infertility can have on both the individuals, couples, friendships and families. The internet is full of success stories and happy endings when it comes to fertility treatment – what about when it doesn’t work? No one should have to go through that alone.
This blog will give you an honest and first-hand account of the bump in the road none of us foresaw when we started this journey – infertility. We’ll talk about the differences between fertility clinics, where they shine, where they fail, how to stand up for yourself, how to handle GPs, the sad truth that IVF doesn’t fix everything and much much more.
This group has got us all through some dark and sad times by having friends we can rely on. We have set up this blog to provide you with a friend too: a friend who is is the same boat as you. But, it’s not all doom, gloom and despair! It’s not often we can joke about dildo cams and running out of orifices to shove more drugs in, but we will share the good and the bad, the funny and the sad – there may be TMI here and there, but this is real life and we’re sharing it with you.
So if you are facing infertility we hope our site will provide you with some comfort and support that you are not alone in this. We are the 22, you are us, and we are you.
